Alexia Diaz
Beyond Vision Skills Trainer
Alexia joined CPWD in 2022. She has worked in the mental health and psychology field for 6 years and is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Mental Health Counseling. She has two cats and is a painter and seamstress.

Ben Rodman
Veterans Independence Program Advisor
Having worked with people with disabilities for more than 30 years, 23 of them here on the Front Range, Ben joined CPWD in 2021. Ben is a lifelong learner with a lot of passions and hobbies including horticulture, mycology, beekeeping, composting and vermicomposting, reading, fishing and hunting, and many more.

Brandy McIntosh
Co-Director of Services
Brandy attended Mississippi State University where she received a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Master of Science in Rehabilitation Counseling. She worked as a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor for Mississippi Department of Rehabilitation Services for 4 years. She joined CPWD in 2019, and strongly supports the mission of assisting individuals with disabilities in overcoming barriers to living independently.

Caitlyn Phillips
Career Coach
Caitlyn enjoys assisting others in finding meaningful employment. She has 10 years of experience working with people with disabilities and serving the community. Caitlyn has a dog named Zoe, and loves being outdoors and spending time with friends and family.

Carol Elmore
Staff Accountant
Carol returned to college in mid-life to earn an Associates Degree of Applied Science in Accounting from Front Range Community College in order to support her family. Since then, has worked as an accountant for various nonprofits. In addition to her position at CPWD, Carol does accounting for the Town of Ward Water Commission, and runs her own business making and selling jewelry at SilvertreeJewelry.com.

Christa Moritz
Independent Living Advisor
Christa joined CPWD in 2024 as an Independent Living Advisor after three years of getting lost and tangled in the system herself. She found power, strength and a sense of confidence through acheiving her own independence, and hopes to empower others to find the same. Christa has a sincere passion for connecting with people and helping others. She deeply believes in the power of independence, and supporting consumers as they achieve their independent living goals.

Connie Stafford
Veterans Independence Program Advisor
Connie served in the US Air Force in support of Operation Desert Storm, earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, and completed Master’s coursework in mental health counseling. Her 20-year career in advocacy includes work as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) Program Director, and as the supervisor at a residence for people with developmental disabilities. She joined CPWD in 2019, and is excited to assist Veterans in maintaining a vital level of independence.

Craig Towler
Director of Public Policy & Advocacy
Craig Towler is a passionate disability rights advocate whose work is deeply rooted in his lived experience. He has dedicated his career to dismantling systemic barriers, amplifying marginalized voices, and addressing discrimination against the disability community.
As the Director of Public Policy and Advocacy for the Center for People With Disabilities (CPWD), Craig collaborates with diverse community partners to drive impactful policy changes that create lasting equity and inclusion.
Craig has served on multiple advisory committees, including the Governor’s Task Force Related to the Civil Rights of Coloradans with Disabilities and the Vision Zero Action Plan Steering Committee. Through his leadership, Craig strives to build a more accessible and just society for all.

Danielle Mowery
Certified Benefits Specialist
Danielle moved to Colorado from Kansas where she was a Benefits Specialist for the State of Kansas Medicaid buy in program, Working Healthy. She joined CPWD in 2024. She has a daughter with Down Syndrome and has been working with people with disabilities for over 20 years. Her passion is to help people be as independent as possible, and confidently find employment without the fear of losing important benefits. Her hobbies are camping, fishing and being outside in nature.

Darcy McLean
Beyond Vision Skills Trainer
Darcy McLean has been a Low Vision Skills Educator and Low Vision Support Group Facilitator in the Beyond Vision Program since 2015. Darcy has lifelong experience in low vision & blindness, with an Bachelors of Science in Human Services Counseling and 20+ years living with low vision herself. She is an avid kayaker, hiker, and gardener. Darcy feels a strong connection to those with low vision and those caring for people with vision loss.

Dawn Brady
Beyond Vision Skills Trainer
Dawn loves sharing her knowledge and skills to encourage and help others. Dawns’ work at CPWD began in 2018 as a volunteer. Dawn has worked for Guide Dogs for the Blind and continues to provide awareness to the community when she and Feebie, her guide dog, are out and about in the Longmont Community.

Diane Jessee
Billing Specialist
Diane started working for CPWD in March of 2016 as the Accounting and Administrative Assistant. Prior, she was a bookkeeper at an assisted living home. She also worked in a manufacturing company as an office manager, oversseeing finances and human resources.

Dylan Moore
Veterans Independence Program Advisor
Dylan joined CPWD in 2024. After serving in the Navy, he spent 7 years in healthcare, and has a passion for helping people and working with veterans.

Estefania Corral
Co-Director of Services
Estefania is a first-generation Mexican-American who grew up in an agricultural community in central California, where her family worked as migrant field workers. Inspired by her family’s passion for the “American Dream,” she earned an Associate of Arts in English before transferring to a four-year college. In 2016, she moved to Boulder and began advocating for underserved communities, focusing on disability equality and equity. Estefania joined the Center for People with Disabilities (CPWD) in 2017 as a volunteer, later becoming the Bilingual Beyond Vision Skills Trainer and then Beyond Vision Program Manager in 2020. In December 2024, she was promoted to Co-Director of Services, where she continues driving impactful change through leadership, advocacy, and her dedication to creating opportunities for all.

Heidi Bison
Veterans Independence Program Supervisor
Heidi is the wife of a Veteran and mother of four children, two of whom have special needs. All of Heidi’s professional career has involved working with and alongside people with disabilities and assisting them with reaching their goals and finding their greatest potential. Prior to joining CPWD, Heidi lived in China where she served people with disabilities with a focus on helping them to see their worth and value within the community. She finds it a great honor to support our Nation’s heroes with maintaining their independence at home and is excited to be a part of the CPWD team.

Holly Ewing
Director of Strategic Growth
Holly has a wealth of experience assisting people with disabilities in achieving independence. Prior to joining CPWD in 2019, she worked for more than 20 years managing an employment program that assisted people with disabilities increase their job skills, employment readiness training, job development and placement support, and long term supports for those employed.

Jamie Lee
Beyond Vision Skills Trainer
Jamie joined CPWD in 2022. She is a native of Colorado who has been a full-time caregiver for multiple family members for the last 20 years. She has a passion for support groups, because she found that the most helpful tips for coping with a disability came from other people living through similar, but different, issues.

As a Colorado native, Jan enjoys the great outdoors in her free time.

Jay Ballard
Youth Independent Living Advisor
Originally from Las Vegas, Jay moved to Denver in 2021 and earned his experience while working for the 18- to 21-year-old Transitions Program with Denver Public Schools before bringing his talents to CPWD. Jay is a Head coach for a competitive soccer club that competes on a national platform, Head Coach of KIPP Denver Collegiate High School Boys Soccer Program, is a big animal lover, and appreciates the arts. In his free time, you can find Jay out on the soccer field or trying new cuisine around town!

Jude Sky
Director of Development & Communications
Jude has worked with CPWD since August 2013 in fundraising and communications. His background includes marketing and fundraising for various nonprofit and for-profit pro-social organizations in the community.

Kai Chun

Kai moved to Colorado from Florida, where he earned his Doctorate in Law from Florida State University. He enjoys camping, snowboarding, and enjoying the outdoors. He earned his EDPNA licensing in 2023 and is excited to use his experience to best aid the local community of people with disabilities.

Marcela Stambaugh

Marcela made Colorado her home in 2001 after moving here from Mexico. She worked as a pharmacy technician for 6 years and then received her Bachelors in Business. She has volunteered for cultural organizations that work to provide a safe environment for kids, teens and young adults through art, music and dance. She joined CPWD in December 2021 and enjoys helping people gain independence.

Margaret Catterall
Director of Operations
Margaret joined CPWD in 2012 after moving to Colorado from Michigan where she worked in administration and accounting. She has two children and enjoys the Colorado outdoors.

Maria Stepanyan
Executive Director
Maria Stepanyan brings over a decade of experience in nonprofit leadership, strategic development, and change implementation. Since 2010, she has focused on advancing independence and equity for individuals with disabilities in the United States. Prior to that, she worked with children with disabilities in Russia.
Maria holds a degree from the Moscow Financial College and is a graduate of the Leadership Academy program at Georgetown University. Fluent in Armenian, Russian, and English, Maria brings a global perspective shaped by her diverse work and life experiences in Armenia, Russia, and the United States.
Committed to promoting intersectionality and inclusion, Maria is passionate about fostering sustainable growth, empowering teams, and creating opportunities for individuals with disabilities to achieve independence and a high quality of life.

Mark Reeves
Veterans Independence Program Advisor
Since 2007, Mark has dedicated himself to working with individuals with disabilities in a variety of settings and joined the Veterans Independence Program in 2023. In addition to his professional commitments with CPWD, Mark excels as a visual artist, practices and teaches yoga and meditation, and passionately spends time with his canine companions.

Mary Baughman
Nursing Home Transitions Program Manager
Mary joined CPWD in June of 2022 as the Nursing Home Transitions Manager. She holds her Masters in Public Health Education from Ithaca College in Upstate NY, where she is originally from. Mary has 4 years of previous experience working with non-profits in Boulder County and is passionate about empowering individuals and strengthening communities.

Nate George
Facilities & Safety Coordinator
Nate George (He/Him) was born and raised in the Appalachian mountains before moving to Kansas, where he spent his formative years. In 2007, he moved to Colorado and has since dedicated his career to working in the nonprofit sector, specializing in advocating for the intersection of the disability and LGBTQ+ communities. Passionate about both social justice and inclusivity, Nate has devoted his professional life to improving access and support for marginalized groups. Outside of work, he is an avid animal lover, sharing his home with his husband, one cat, two dogs, a snake, a leopard gecko, five hermit crabs, and an array of aquariums and houseplants. Nate’s diverse interests and deep compassion drive both his personal and professional endeavors, making him a well-rounded and dedicated individual.

Teresa Greene
Youth Independent Living Advisor
Teresa joined CPWD in 2019. She is an experienced Youth Independent Living Advisor with a strong background in child development, special education, and mental health. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Child Development from Fresno State College, California, and has over 20 years of experience working with individuals with disabilities. Teresa is also certified in Supported Decision-Making, Human Sexuality Education, and Nonviolent Crisis Intervention.
At CPWD, she designs and facilitates educational workshops, peer support groups, and innovative curriculum strategies that promote cognitive and social development for employment success.
Committed to a person-first approach, Teresa empowers youth by meeting them where they are and guiding them toward independent living goals. She has successfully led programs like the Youth Employment Program, driving positive outcomes for young people with disabilities.

Born and raised in northern Colorado, Zoe has a passion for helping the community around her and she is excited to use her background in communications and health services in her new role here with CPWD. Her free time is spent creating all things artsy, including makeup, painting, jewelry, and dance.
In an independent living environment, people with disabilities have more control and choice over their lives, more freedom to reach for their full potential, and more opportunity to integrate with community.
