As Colorado Gives Day approaches, we’re reminded of the power we have to shape the communities we live in. It’s a time of giving, but more importantly, it’s a time of possibility—a chance to invest in organizations that are transforming lives and building a better world for all of us.
CPWD has been at the forefront of creating a more inclusive Colorado for decades. Our mission is simple yet profound: to provide resources, information and advocacy to assist people with disabilities in overcoming barriers to independent living. By staying true to this mission, and providing a continuum of services and programs, we empower individuals with disabilities to live independently and to create communities that embrace accessibility for everyone.
But this work doesn’t happen in isolation. It happens when people like you step forward to say, “I believe in a world where everyone belongs.” This Colorado Gives Day, your donation to CPWD is more than a charitable act—it’s a commitment to the values of inclusion, equality, and community.

Accessibility is for Everyone
When we think about accessibility, we often imagine it as a service for individuals with disabilities. But the truth is, accessibility benefits everyone. Mothers with children, aging parents and relatives, young kids, and others benefit from physical access in our community. Unhoused individuals, people experiencing poverty or marginalization benefit from programmatic and social accessibility.
An accessible community is a more efficient, thoughtful, and welcoming community for all its members. The work CPWD does to promote accessibility and equity for people with disabilities expands to support many people in our community. By supporting CPWD, you’re helping to remove barriers that limit potential—not just for people with disabilities, but for society as a whole.
But creating a more inclusive society isn’t just about infrastructure; it’s about mindset. It’s about fostering empathy, understanding, and collaboration. When you donate to CPWD, you’re not just funding programs and services; you’re investing in education that breaks down stereotypes, advocacy that ensures equal rights, and training that empowers individuals to live independently.
Your support allows us to expand our Disability Etiquette Training to businesses and organizations, helping people understand how they can be allies in inclusion. It funds critical services like peer support, independent living skills training, and transition programs that open doors for people who have been shut out of opportunities for far too long.
When we work together, we create a ripple effect that touches lives in ways we can’t always see. A donation to CPWD is an investment in a stronger, more connected community where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
